Abstract
This action research was conducted to address the persistent challenge of low interest, limited engagement, and misconceptions among Grade IV learners in Araling Panlipunan. Traditional teaching approaches often fail to sustain pupils’ attention, especially in a generation highly exposed to social media. To respond to this problem, the study introduced an interactive intervention titled Learning through TikTok Games: An Interactive Intervention to Enhance Learners’ Interest in Araling Panlipunan 4, integrating trending TikTok games into the abstraction phase of the lesson plan. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of TikTok-inspired games in enhancing learners’ interest and participation. The participants were Grade IV pupils from the selected public elementary school where the study was conducted, who engaged in structured game-based activities aligned with curriculum competencies. Data were gathered using pre-tests, post-tests, interviews, and classroom observations. Quantitative results showed a significant improvement in learners’ performance. The mean pretest score of 1.58 increased to 7.02 in the posttest. Statistical analysis revealed a computed t-value of 5.05 with a p-value of 0.001, indicating a significant difference after the intervention. Qualitative findings further supported these results, revealing key themes from students’ experiences: increased engagement, heightened enjoyment and excitement, and improved retention through active participation. Additionally, teachers highlighted the importance of diversifying game-based strategies, integrating reflective questioning to deepen understanding, and ensuring smooth incorporation of games into lesson structures. Overall, the findings suggest that integrating TikTok-inspired game-based activities can effectively enhance students’ interest, motivation, and learning outcomes in Araling Panlipunan. The study recommends the adoption of interactive and culturally relevant strategies to create a more engaging and meaningful learning environment.
