About the Journal

Journal Cover

Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal is an open-access, international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes research findings that significantly advance understanding and development of psychological and educational processes. PEMJ encompasses research results from various fields, including anthropology, history, philosophy, economics, business, linguistics, geography, and political science.

This is an open-access journal, meaning all content is freely available to users and institutions. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

Typically, the manuscript will be reviewed within 20 days.
After acceptance, it currently takes up to 20 days to publish the article online.

Instructions for Authors

Please register and follow the instructions to write your manuscripts inside the online system. We have no special instructions regarding the article's formatting or structure. The author must enter all required data into our unique manuscript submission system. Our system will automatically format and create a PDF in PEMJ format. This also saves the writers and scientists precious time.

Regarding the submission systems, a video tutorial is available in the documentation under the 'Manuscript' card. Once the manuscript has been written in the online writing system, it must be analyzed by the automatic system. If all the requirements are fulfilled, the system will allow the author to submit, and the "Submit" button will appear. The author must suggest at least two reviewers submit the paper.

Publication Process

All articles pass through the following steps to be able to publish in PEMJ:

  1. Manuscript text was written (or pasted from any other software like MS Word, etc.) in the online system. The text must not contain figures and tables.
  2. Figures can be uploaded to the online system in any suitable format (JPG, PNG, TIFF, etc.). While uploading, please provide the title/caption of the figure that must appear below the figure in the manuscript.
  3. Tables are uploaded into the online system by the following two procedures: 1) Table pasted from MS Word, 2) Table created in the online editor. Tables in MS Word files are not acceptable.
  4. References/Bibliographies are added in the online system by the following procedures: 1) Searching in the online system and adding to your library, 2) Adding manually, 3) Adding the Bib format obtained from Google Scholar export citation option, 4) Adding the JSON file obtained from the NCBI export citation option.
  5. If the author delivers all the requirements, the manuscript can be submitted.
  6. The editor checks the submitted manuscript. If the manuscript falls within the aim and scope of the PEMJ, the editor forwards it to the suggested reviewers.
  7. If two reviewers recommend rejection, the editor rejects the manuscript and sends the comments to the author.
  8. If one reviewer suggests rejecting another major/minor revision, the editor may send the manuscript to a third reviewer. For a manuscript to be accepted in the PEMJ, at least two reviewers must suggest acceptance.
  9. Once the manuscript is accepted, the online system automatically converts it to a PDF and sends it to the author for Galley proofs.
  10. The manuscript is published online immediately upon review of the Galley proofs.

Double-Blind Peer Review Process

PEMJ follows a strict double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process. This ensures fairness, objectivity, and academic integrity.

  • Submission Received. Once a manuscript is submitted through the journal’s online system, the author receives an automatic acknowledgment from the editorial office confirming that the submission has been successfully received and recorded in the system.
  • Technical Check. The editorial staff conducts an initial technical screening to ensure that the manuscript complies with the journal’s basic requirements. This includes checking the format, structure, word limit, reference style, completeness of required sections, plagiarism screening, and removal of any identifying information to maintain double-blind review. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements are returned to the author for correction before further processing.
  • Editorial Assignment. After the technical check, the manuscript is assigned to an editor specializing in the study's subject area. The assigned editor becomes responsible for overseeing the entire review process of the manuscript.
  • Initial Review by the Editor. The editor conducts a preliminary content review to determine whether the manuscript fits the journal’s aims and scope, shows sufficient academic quality, and meets basic scholarly standards. If the manuscript is found unsuitable at this stage, it may be declined without external review. If suitable, the editor invites peer reviewers, usually within 7-10 days.
  • Review by the Assigned Peer Reviewers. Qualified reviewers are invited based on their expertise. Once they accept the invitation, they log in to the reviewer panel to access the anonymized manuscript. Reviewers are required to provide detailed comments that focus on clarity, originality, methodology, analysis, ethics, and the contribution to knowledge. Reviewers must then select one of the following recommendations: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. All reviews are submitted through the online system.
  • Editorial Decision. The editor carefully evaluates the reviewers’ comments and recommendations. Based on their feedback, the editor makes a final decision and prepares a consolidated review report. This report, containing anonymous reviewer comments and the editorial decision, is sent to the author. Revision and Resubmission. If revisions are required, the author must revise the manuscript following the reviewers’ and editor’s comments. A revised version, along with a response-to-reviewers document, must be submitted within the given deadline. The revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editor, depending on the extent of the revisions.

PEMJ Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

The Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal (PEMJ) is firmly committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in publishing. This Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement is guided by the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), whose Code of Conduct and guidelines are available at www.publicationethics.org . PEMJ adheres to internationally recognized ethical standards in all aspects of scholarly publishing, including authorship, peer review, editorial decision-making, and post-publication practices. The journal is dedicated to promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability, and to addressing ethical concerns such as plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, redundant publication, conflicts of interest, and authorship disputes in a responsible and timely manner. The journal is also committed to correcting the scholarly record when necessary by publishing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern, in accordance with COPE guidelines. Any identified errors, ethical breaches, or cases of publication malpractice are handled with due diligence, fairness, and confidentiality. PEMJ conducts all editorial and publication processes independently and transparently. The journal does not authorize agents, brokers, or third-party individuals to mediate, influence, or guarantee publication. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit their manuscripts directly through the official journal website to ensure the integrity and security of the review and publication process. Through these commitments, PEMJ seeks to maintain trust among authors, reviewers, readers, and the broader academic community, and to contribute responsibly to the advancement of knowledge in psychology, education, and related disciplines.

Retraction Policy

This journal is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record by promptly addressing issues that may compromise research reliability. Articles may be retracted if results are deemed unreliable due to honest error or misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or ethical violations. Retractions may also occur if the peer review process is compromised or if authors fail to provide supporting data or documentation of their research. Retracted articles remain accessible in the journal’s archive, clearly labeled with a watermark and linked to a retraction notice. Complete removal of articles occurs only under exceptional circumstances, such as legal obligations related to defamation, privacy breaches, or health risks. Retraction notices will clearly state the reason for retraction, the party initiating it, and whether the authors concur or dissent. Retracted papers can be removed from the PEMJ journal website only, not from external indexing databases, and the removal process may take up to three months to complete.

Once an article is published online and the article processing charge (APC) is paid, the APC is strictly non-refundable, even in cases of retraction or correction. Before publication, authors requesting withdrawal for minor reasons may receive a discretionary refund if the Version of Record has not yet been released. Minor errors that do not affect the study’s overall findings will be corrected through an erratum or author correction. At the same time, substantial issues leading to unreliable conclusions or ethical concerns will result in a formal retraction. The journal may notify the authors’ institutions in cases of suspected misconduct and may restrict future submissions in misconduct-related cases. All corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions will be publicly posted, time-stamped, and linked to the original article to ensure transparency.

Author's Responsibilities

Article Processing Charge (APC) Policy

Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal (PEMJ) follows an open-access publishing model, allowing unrestricted access to all published articles. To sustain this model and cover the costs of editorial processes, website maintenance, indexing, archiving, and overall journal management, the journal charges a nominal Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 50 per accepted article. It is important to note that there are no fees for article submission, and the APC only applies after a manuscript has successfully passed peer review and been formally accepted for publication.

Once the APC has been paid, it becomes non-refundable, as the fee directly supports the operational and publication costs incurred during the editorial and production process. As PEMJ does not generate revenue from readers or institutional subscriptions, the APC enables the journal to maintain high-quality, openly accessible content for a global audience of researchers, practitioners, and scholars. This model ensures that knowledge dissemination remains inclusive and barrier-free for all.
