Effectiveness of Curated Educational Videos in Improving Conceptual Understanding of Grade VI Learners in Araling Panlipunan

This study examined the effectiveness of curated educational videos in improving the conceptual understanding of Grade VI Araling Panlipunan learners at Bato Elementary School during the School Year 2025–2026. The study employed a mixed-methods approach in which quantitative and qualitative data were integrated to provide a comprehensive analysis of learners’ conceptual understanding. A total of 100 Grade VI learners participated in the study, comprising 50 learners in the control group and 50 learners in the experimental group. Quantitative data were gathered using researcher-made pre-test and post-test assessments and analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and paired-samples t-test at the .05 level of significance. Qualitative data were collected through open-ended questionnaires and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that both the control and experimental groups demonstrated poor conceptual understanding prior to the intervention, with pre-test mean scores of 7.94 and 8.12, respectively. Following the intervention, the control group, which utilized typical educational videos, obtained a post-test mean score of 9.36, while the experimental group, which used curated educational videos, achieved a substantially higher post-test mean score of 17.02. The paired-samples t-test indicated a highly significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group (p < .001), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. Moreover, the reduced standard deviation in the experimental group suggested more consistent learning performance among learners. Qualitative findings revealed that learners perceived curated educational videos as enhancing their conceptual understanding, increasing their motivation to learn, and making lessons more engaging. However, they also identified challenges related to the pace of the videos, limited access to digital devices, and unstable internet connectivity. Overall, the findings indicate that curated educational videos constitute an effective learner-centered instructional strategy that significantly enhances learners’ conceptual understanding of Araling Panlipunan concepts and improves their academic performance.
