Extent of Teachers’ Teaching Practices in the New Normal and the Learners’ Academic Achievement in Araling Panlipunan

Abstract

This study aimed to determine Extent of Teachers’ Teaching Practices in the New normal and the Learners’ Academic Achievement in Araling Panlipunan in the Division of Bukidnon during the school year 2021-2022. A total of 127 Araling Panlipunan teachers of Halapitan, San Fernando District, San Fernando, Bukidnon were chosen as respondents. Specifically, it aimed to identify the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, grade level taught, educational attainment, and teaching position; grades of learners in Araling Panlipunan. Extent of Teachers’ Teaching Practices in the New Normal and the learners’ as preserved by the teachers in terms of timeliness in modules preparation, timeliness in modules distribution, and timeliness in checking the modules; The significant difference between the demographic profile of respondents in terms of age, sex, grade level taught, educational attainment, and teaching position. The significant relationship between the Extent of Teachers’ Teaching Practices on the 21st century during the pandemic and the learners’ academic achievement in Araling Panlipunan. Result showed that most of the teacher respondents were between 40-49 years of age, females, teaching in Grade 1, had Bachelors’ degree, and were Teacher 1. In terms of the academic achievement of the learners of Halapitan District in Araling Panlipunan, the results of the study showed that they got a very satisfactory grade in their subject matter. The extent of teachers' best practices of the elementary school utilizing modular instruction in Halapitan, San Fernando District was that they contextualized the modules provided by DepEd, and they provided proper and appropriate recording of the learners. The result of the study also revealed that there is no significant difference between the demographic profiles of the respondents in terms of age, gender, grade level taught, educational attainment, and teaching position. Lastly, the result of the study revealed that there is no significant relationship between the extent of teachers' teaching practices in the 21st century during the pandemic and the learners' academic Achievement in Araling Panlipuan. Based on the findings and conclusions, the following were made: The respondents were not old yet, and there were mostly Teacher I. They may study for their master's and doctoral degrees in order to be promoted because an advance degree can help them secure a promotion that they have always desired. These graduate degrees would also boost their confidence and help them secure better opportunities. In order to escalate the academic performance of the learners in Halapitan San Fernando District in Araling Panlipunan from very satisfactory to outstanding, everyone who is involved in educating the learners should place a high regard on encouraging academic success, and teachers may exert extra efforts. The school heads may continue their monitoring and evaluation of the teachers in their execution of work assignments. They may continuously provide technical assistance to the teachers utilizing modular instruction. Given the extent of teachers' teaching practices, it is strongly suggested that teachers utilizing modular instruction should emulate and follow these practices to increase the learners’ grades.
