Competency Preparedness and Employment Outcomes of Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology Graduates: A Tracer Study from 2018 to 2022

This study aimed to trace the employment outcomes, professional competencies, and program relevance of Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRT) graduates of Dr. Carlos S. Lanting College from 2018 to 2022. The investigation sought to determine graduates’ employability status, job alignment with their academic training, and perceptions of program strengths and weaknesses as bases for continuous quality improvement and curriculum enhancement. The study employed a descriptive mixed-method design using a researcher-made questionnaire adapted from the DCLC Placement and Career Center template. Data were collected through Google Forms disseminated via official institutional platforms and validated through existing graduate records. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, frequency, and percentage) to determine employment profiles and perceptions, while qualitative responses were thematically analyzed to capture graduates’ lived experiences. Results revealed that most graduates were gainfully employed in health facilities within the Philippines and abroad, demonstrating strong alignment between academic preparation and workplace requirements. The BSRT curriculum was perceived as comprehensive and relevant, particularly in technical competence, professional ethics, and patient care. However, communication skills and adaptability in diverse clinical environments were identified as areas for improvement. The study was limited to one institution and relied on self-reported data. Future tracer studies may include multiple cohorts and comparative institutional analysis to strengthen generalizability and inform policy recommendations in allied health education.
