Influence of Journalism Program Implementation to Students’ Engagement in Campus Journalism in Digos City

The effectiveness of campus journalism program in developing student engagement depends largely on the quality of training resources, physical facilities and equipment, coaching strategies, coaches’ competence, and administrators' support. Using a descriptive regression analysis approach, this study aimed to determine the influence of the level of journalism program implementation to students’ engagement in campus journalism. A content-validated and reliability-tested survey questionnaire was administered to 74 campus journalists from public and private schools in Digos City Division who were selected through purposive and quota sampling. The data was analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and simple linear regression. The results indicate that the journalism program is implemented at a very high level (M = 4.23), while students’ engagement in campus journalism is likewise very high (M = 4.37). Moreover, regression analysis results show that overall implementation has a positive and statistically significant effect on students’ engagement (B = 0.309, β = 0.405, t = 3.761, p = .000). This study recommends that schools should prioritize consistent implementation of journalism program, including providing adequate resources, coaching, and administrative support, to further enhance student engagement in campus journalism.
