Abstract

This study assessed the economic impacts of Barangay Lumaniag Beach Resort on coastal tourism development in Batangas City. A descriptive survey method was employed, and data were collected from 100 residents using a validated questionnaire. The research focused on three key areas: the development of local businesses, infrastructure improvements, and the generation of employment opportunities. The findings revealed that the resort has generated significant positive economic effects. Respondents strongly agreed that it raised the profile of local businesses, increased bookings for local accommodations, and created new job opportunities for residents. Improvements in local infrastructure and transportation were also acknowledged, though public amenities were identified as needing further development. A key finding was a significant difference in perceptions by age: younger respondents viewed the economic impacts more favorably, while no significant difference was found by sex. In conclusion, Barangay Lumaniag Beach Resort serves as a substantial catalyst for local economic growth. The study recommends providing targeted support to smaller businesses, making further investments in public amenities, expanding skills-training programs for residents, and developing age-specific initiatives to ensure inclusive benefits from the ongoing development of coastal tourism.
