Abstract

This study examined the relationship between religious commitment and political participation among Senior High School students of Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. A total of 100 students from different strands and grade levels were selected through purposive sampling. Using a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data were collected via survey questionnaires, complemented by qualitative insights from open-ended responses. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and thematic analysis were employed for data interpretation. Results showed that students exhibited high religious commitment but only slight political participation. The correlation coefficient (r = 0.124, p > 0.05) indicated a very low, non-significant positive relationship between the two variables. Findings suggest that while faith shapes personal values, it does not predict civic or political engagement. The study highlights the importance of integrating faith-based civic formation in Catholic education to cultivate socially responsible and morally grounded students.
