Abstract
This study explored the level of awareness and involvement of Grade 10 learners in the Citizenship Training Program (CTP) at Banisil National High School, School Year 2024–2025. Utilizing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the researcher assessed learners’ awareness in terms of basic leadership and public safety, and their involvement through class discussions, performance tasks, workshops, and community outreach. Results revealed high levels of awareness and involvement, with a significant relationship between the two variables. Qualitative data from interviews and focus group discussions supported the quantitative findings and highlighted key influencing factors such as motivation, leadership opportunities, and civic values. An intervention program titled Community Connect was developed based on the findings, emphasizing leadership development, experiential learning, and community engagement. The program was evaluated by experts and found to be highly valid in terms of acceptability, appropriateness, content, relevance, and usability. This study offers valuable insights into fostering civic responsibility and leadership among high school students through structured citizenship training.
