Abstract
This study aimed to determine the factors affecting the non-participation of selected residents in religious events in Gumaca, Quezon. It determined the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, and religion. It also revealed the factors affecting the non-participation of selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon, in terms of family commitment, cultural beliefs and practices, and socioeconomic status. The researcher employed a descriptive research method. This study employed a simple random sampling design. Under this procedure, the researcher considered using one hundred (100) respondents, selected from residents in Gumaca, Quezon, to ensure 100% representation. This study found that most respondents affected are aged 41-50 years old, accounting for 34% of the total respondents. Males and females got the same frequency, with a total of 50 respondents. Most respondents are Roman Catholic, accounting for 45% of the total respondents. This study found that the average of 3.82, interpreted as 'Agree,' indicated that most respondents agreed that family commitments were the main factors affecting the non-participation in religious events of selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon. Likewise, the average of 3.92, interpreted as Agree, indicated that most respondents agreed on the factors affecting the non-participation of selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon, regarding cultural beliefs and practices. The average mean of 4.1, interpreted as 'Agree,' indicated that most respondents agreed on the factors affecting the non-participation in religious events of selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon, in terms of socioeconomic status. Based on the results of the Kruskal-Wallis H-test, the null hypothesis of no difference in age is rejected, indicating a significant difference in the factors affecting the non-participation in religious events among selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon, when respondents are grouped by age. However, the null hypothesis of sex and religion is accepted, indicating that there is no significant difference in the factors affecting the non-participation in religious events among selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon, when respondents are grouped by sex and religion. From the result of this study, the following were recommended; to the barangay officials, they may able to help resident to be able to attend religious events, this is important to our religion because this is where we understand freedom and words of God and the more we know about the word of god the better it is because He guides us even though we cannot see him. Hence, it is beautiful. Let us research people who no longer attend religious events. To the Community, to ensure that each community has its own beliefs, and to gain a better understanding of each religion, so that each person can communicate with others, regardless of their different faiths. To the Religious Leader, there is knowledge of those in the religion and of those who guide it, sharing knowledge with listeners and the people. For future researchers, this study may serve as a valuable reference for those who will conduct similar studies in the future.
