Abstract

This study investigated the predictive role of resilience on psychological well-being among elderly Filipinos, focusing on the dimensions of emotional coping, situation coping, and social support. Psychological well-being was assessed through autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations, purpose in life, and self-acceptance. A quantitative, descriptive-correlational design was employed, with 378 elderly respondents sampled from five barangays in Quezon City. Data analysis using Pearson’s chi-square and ordinal regression revealed that resilience significantly predicted psychological well-being across all dimensions. Emotional coping emerged as the strongest predictor, particularly in autonomy and personal growth. The findings underscore the importance of resilience-building interventions in enhancing the well-being of elderly populations, with implications for healthcare and policy.
