Abstract

This study investigated the perception of grade 9 students on reward and punishment in their Filipino Language Learning, the level of their academic performance in Filipino, and the significant relationship between their perception on reward and punishment in Filipino Language Learning and their level of academic performance in Filipino. Quantitative method and descriptive correlational design were employed in this study. The study was conducted among 200 grade 9 students in Can-avid National High School randomly selected trough simple random sampling. It has been revealed that the grade 9 students have varied perception on the implementation of reward and punishment in the classroom. Furthermore, it was revealed that there is a significant positive moderate correlation between the two variables with a Pearson’ r coefficient of .539 and a p-value of .000 (p<.05). Moreover, it was concluded that when the students perceive the implementation of reward and punishment positively, it is likely that they will perform well in Filipino language learning.
