Abstract

This study determined the relationship between the leadership styles and work performance of the teachers of Valencia Colleges Inc. It specifically looks into the various leadership philosophies displayed by department heads and how these impact teachers' overall capacity to perform their jobs well. A quantitative research methodology and a structured questionnaire that adhered to the National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS) were used to systematically gather data. This study focuses on six primary leadership philosophies: transformational, instructional, democratic, transactional, emotional, and constructivist. It evaluates teachers' performance on a variety of metrics at the same time, such as curriculum implementation, diversity management, professional development, and instructional planning. The findings demonstrate that transformational and instructional leadership have the strongest positive correlations with teacher performance, suggesting that department heads who implement these leadership philosophies significantly improve the caliber of instruction and teachers' general effectiveness. Instructors demonstrated a high level of proficiency in most performance domains; however, there was room for improvement in a few areas, including curriculum adaptation and parental involvement. Statistical analyses that revealed a strong relationship between department heads' leadership styles and teachers' job performance further reinforced the critical role that leadership plays in influencing educational outcomes. The study highlights the importance of continuous leadership development initiatives that give department heads the resources they need to promote the academic achievement and professional development of teachers. To improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes, it suggests focused professional development to bolster leadership abilities. To better comprehend leadership's influence in educational efficiency, future research could examine other elements like organizational culture, teacher motivation, and institutional policies.
