Abstract
This multiple-case study aimed to explore and understand the experiences of Toastmasters possesing speaker and hosting in informal, formal and inside the campus setting. Using purposive sampling and inclusion criteria, the participating three (3) Toastmasters coming from Kapalong who where residing in Davao del Norte. All of them participated in the in-depth interviews. Results revealed the experiences of the participants: Public Speaking Anxiety; feeling of anxiety in front of audience; experiencing changes in program flow;dealing inaccurate announcements or information; fulfillment through discovering new opportunities. In response to the challenges they have encountered, they deem the following coping strategies essential: doing time management; having support system; having inspiration in learning public speaking. Upon reflecting on their entire experience, they arrived at the following insights: the importance of orientation and experiences to master effective communication; impact of conducting practices as part of preparing oneself; value of embracing one’s uniqueness. The results of this study were deemed significant by the participants, teachers, students, and researchers.
