Abstract
Emotions affect teachers’ health and psychological well-being. Emotions also elicit resources such as personal resources, enabling a person to cope with demands and lessening the threat of stress in the teaching occupation. Several studies have linked emotions with anxiety. The study examined the teaching emotions and teachers’ stress as the basis for a webinar in a sample of 36 in-service teachers. The data were treated using correlational analysis. Results showed that positive emotions, specifically enjoyment, lowered stress among teachers. It enabled them to persevere towards their goals and optimism, making a positive attribution and positive expectation about success. On the other hand, teachers experiencing negative emotions, specifically anxiety, experienced increased stress manifestations because of their optimism, which was similar to anger. Results had implication on the need to improve on cultivating and building up personal resources among teachers.
