Abstract

The study sought to find out the influence of causes of behavioral problems and perceived behavioral problems on pupils’ academic achievements. The descriptive-correlational research method was utilized, and the Statistical tools used in the study were mean and standard deviation to determine the causes of behavioral problems. The perceived behavioral problems, frequency, and percentages were used to determine the level of pupils’ academic achievements. Pearson's r was utilized to ascertain the significant relationship between the causes of behavioral problems, perceived behavioral problems, and pupils’ academic achievements. In addition, the majority of the pupil-respondents attained a “fairly satisfactory” academic achievement. It was also found that parental nagging and tongue-lashing affected pupils’ academic achievements, while the perceived behavioral problem did not affect pupils’ academic achievements. As a summary, it was recommended that school heads endlessly encouraged teachers to inspire parents to avoid nagging and tongue-lashing, and teachers to forge collaboration to address the problem of pupils' absenteeism.
