Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the revival of the Bayanihan Spirit: Perception of Selected Residents in Gumaca, Quezon. The target population in this study was 80 selected residents in Gumaca, Quezon. The researcher used a mixed-method research design using a Likert scale. Respondents were randomly selected through simple random sampling. The statistical tools used were frequency count and percentage, frequency ranking, and weighted mean. It also used the Kruskal-Wallis H-test. The instrument used was a researcher-made survey questionnaire. Based on the findings, the majority of respondents fall within the 20-24 age group. It revealed that females have a higher percentage than males when it comes to sex. In terms of address, most of the respondents are living in Brgy. Tabing Dagat. The respondents agreed that young people use social media to promote values of unity and helping others, evidenced by the highest mean of 3.74. The respondents agreed that local stories passed down by elders help preserve the value of Bayanihan in our community, evidenced by the highest mean of 3.58. The respondents agreed that local events in Gumaca encouraged everyone to take part and helped each other to revive the bayanihan spirit, evidenced by the highest mean of 3.86. The respondents agreed that feeding programs encouraged residents to work together and support one another, evidenced by the highest mean of 3.98. According to the result of the Kruskal-Wallis H-Test, the null hypothesis for Youth Engagement, Local Storytelling, and Feeding Program is failed to reject, indicating no significant difference in the respondents’ perceptions on these indicators of reviving the Bayanihan spirit. Meanwhile, the null hypothesis for Collaboration is rejected, which means there is a significant difference in the respondents’ perception of this indicator. This shows that respondents have varying views on the role of Collaboration in reviving the Bayanihan spirit.
