Abstract
The purpose of the study is to examine the extent of usage of teaching strategies among teachers in Araling Panlipunan in the content of film-viewing, cooperative learning, role playing, semantic webbing, brainstorming, and practical work approach, and how it affects the academic achievement of elementary pupils in the Kadingilan district. Specifically, this study endeavors to answer the following questions: a.) What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status, area of specialization, years of teaching experience, and educational attainment? b.) What is the extent of use of teaching strategies among teachers in Araling Panlipunan on film-viewing, cooperative learning, role playing, semantic webbing, brainstorming, and the practical work approach? c.) What is the academic achievement of pupils in Araling Panlipunan? d.) What is the extent of influence of teaching strategies on the academic achievement of elementary pupils? e.) Is there a significant relationship between the extent of use of teaching strategies among teachers in Araling Panlipunan and the academic achievement of elementary pupils? The result revealed that there is a significant relationship between the extent of used of teaching strategies in Araling Panlipunan and the academic achievement of pupils in terms of Film viewing, Cooperative learning, Role playing, Brainstorming, and Practical Work Approach. It is also revealed that the academic achievement is not significantly related to the teaching strategy of teaching Araling Panlipunan in terms of the extent of use of the semantic web. This may imply that Araling Panlipunan teachers are proficient enough to apply different strategies in their classes.
