Personal Growth and Professional Development of Teachers: Influence on Conflict Management in the Workplace

Abstract

This study determined the influence of personal growth and professional development on conflict management in the workplace, and used it as a basis in crafting a strategic intervention plan, Lagonoy North District, Division of Camarines Sur, School Year 2025-2026. This study determined the status of the personal growth of teachers along mental, social, spiritual, physical, and emotional; determined the status of the professional development of teachers in terms of knowledge, practice, and engagement; determined the common conflict management in the workplace along communication, collaboration, control, civility, and commitment; assessed the significant relationship between personal growth and conflict management; between professional development and conflict management; assessed the extent to which personal growth influences conflict management and the extent to which professional development influences conflict management; and developed a strategic intervention plan to enhance the personal growth, professional development and conflict management of teachers. This employed a descriptive–correlational research design and used a total enumeration of 55 secondary teachers from the 4 public secondary schools. Major conclusions were: teachers generally exhibit high levels of personal growth, with spiritual and social aspects rated very high, while mental, emotional, and physical growth are rated high; teachers demonstrate high overall professional development, with professional practice rated very high and both professional knowledge and engagement rated high; teachers maintain very high levels of conflict management in the workplace, with civility and commitment leading; all dimensions of teachers’ personal growth are significantly related to conflict management styles; all aspects of teachers’ professional development are also significantly related to conflict management styles; teachers’ personal growth has a moderate to strong influence on their conflict management styles; teachers’ professional growth moderately influences their conflict management styles.
