Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation of Selected Nigerian Students Taking Higher Education Courses in the Philippines: An Assessment

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation of Nigerian Students taking Higher Education Courses in the Philippines. Intrinsic Motivation refers to how appreciative Nigerian students are regarding the Philippine education system, Filipino dynamics and culture, and their intellectual and academic growth. Extrinsic Motivation refers to the academic learning opportunities and available educational resources experienced in the Philippines. A total of 50 Nigerian students participated in the study. Results showed that there is very high intrinsic and extrinsic motivation across all respondents. Demographic profiles have nothing to do with the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations of Nigerian Students. Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation are significantly strongly correlated with each other.
