Value Systems, Self-esteem, and Career Choices among IP Latchkey Students: A Descriptive Correlation Study

Abstract

This study explored the relationship between IP latchkey student's value systems, self-esteem, and career choices. The study employed a descriptive research design, utilizing survey and correlational methods. The entire population of 100 IP latchkey senior high school students was included in the research, and questionnaires were used to collect data. Various statistical analyses were used to analyze the gathered data. The findings revealed that students who lacked adequate parental supervision were significantly more prone to experiencing negative outcomes, including heightened risks of despair. Furthermore, they were more likely to engage in harmful behaviors such as smoking cigarettes, using marijuana, and consuming alcohol. The study also identified a significant relationship between the value systems and self-esteem of senior high school IP latchkey students and their career choice. These results highlight the interconnections of value systems, self- esteem, and career choices among the senior high school IP latchkey students are crucial in shaping their desired future lives and career paths.
