Abstract

The objective of this study is to provide insight into the experiences of Filipino mothers in Cavite, specifically in behavioral centers of Chrysalides Therapy Center in Bacoor and The Bright Future Behavioral Center in Imus, who take care of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Researchers looked at the personal narratives of ten Filipino mothers from two behavioral centers in Cavite using qualitative phenomenological analysis. To get useful information about their experiences, a fourteen-question semi-structured format was used. The questions were made using the SWOT framework to help them figure out their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats when it comes to providing care and support for children with ASD and how it affects their daily lives. The data was analyzed through thematic analysis to find themes and patterns. It was found that mothers have strengths like having support from family and society, knowing and caring for their child, and sometimes being religious. However, they are also vulnerable because they deal with a lot of stress and negative emotions, have trouble setting priorities, and have limited access to many health services. There are also times when the family gives relief and helps people bond, yet there are also threats, like disruptive behavior from children, social judgment, and financial challenges. Based on the themes that were found, it is suggested that a workbook be developed with tasks like crossword puzzles, origami, and photo journaling that will keep people interested and help them reach their goals. Its goal is to help mothers live better lives and improve their mental and physical wellness. Overall, this study helps people learn more about the lives of Filipino mothers and offers services that can make their daily experiences and the lives of their children better.
