Abstract

This exploratory case study was conducted involving administrators, Physical Education (PE) teachers, as well as students in 3 Marist Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) (Notre Dame of Marbel University, Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, and Notre Dame of Kidapawan College). Information was obtained from in-depth interviews and focus group discussions and was subsequently analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis (2006). The findings of this study suggest that the Maristness of PATHFIT was manifested through the interconnection of value-laden instruction and transformative teaching. It was indicated that teachers deliberately embed the Marist pedagogical principles into their teaching, while administrators provide the necessary support through structural leadership and resource management. Consequently, students perceived the implementation of PATHFIT as a platform for holistic development (body–mind–spirit) through physical training and values integration in physical activities. All in all, this research suggests that a PATHFIT curriculum that is implemented with adequate institutional support and students as the center of instruction promotes the ideals of Physical Education in lifelong healthy lifestyles.
