Teachers’ Innovativeness in Creating Digital Concepts and Resources: Evaluative Reflection Towards Learners’ Academic Performance

Abstract

The study sought to find out the influence of an innovative teaching approach through ICT integration and students’ academic performance of Kauswagan National High School in the City Division of Cagayan de Oro for the School Year 2024-2025. A Descriptive-correlational research method was utilized, and the Statistical tools used in the study were meant to determine the level of the extent of innovative teaching approach of teachers, while frequency and percentages were used to determine the level of students’ academic performance. Pearson's r was utilized to ascertain the significant relationship between the students’ academic performance and the innovative approach in teaching. Results showed that teachers utilize ICT integration to a very great extent utilize ICT integration in teaching, while most of the students had a very satisfactory academic performance. It was also found that an innovative approach in teaching has a positive correlation to students’ academic performance. As a summary, to enhance innovative teaching and learning through ICT integration, it is recommended that teachers conduct ICT training and workshop; to bridge digital divide among students, it is recommended that teachers must provide students the access to ICT resources; to improve teachers’ professional development in ICT integration, it is recommended that teachers must undergo continuous ICT training; to help students develop 21st century skills, it is recommended that teachers provide learning activities which stimulate development of students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, communication and digital literacy; to increase efficiency and accessibility to ICT resources.
