Abstract
This study examined the relationship between work attitude and job motivation among Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students undergoing on-the-job training (OJT). As experiential learning becomes increasingly important in tourism education, understanding the factors that influence students’ motivation and workplace behavior is essential for improving internship outcomes and preparing future tourism professionals. Employing a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design, the study involved 65 Tourism Management students selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire that measured respondents’ work attitude and job motivation. The instrument underwent expert validation to ensure content relevance and clarity. Descriptive statistics, including mean and standard deviation, were used to determine the levels of the variables, while Pearson Product-Moment Correlation was employed to examine their relationship. The findings revealed that respondents demonstrated an above-average level of work attitude (M = 4.19, SD = 0.70) and job motivation (M = 4.19, SD = 0.67). These results suggest that Tourism Management students generally exhibit positive workplace behaviors and maintain a strong level of motivation during their internship experiences. Furthermore, the analysis indicated a statistically significant and strong positive relationship between work attitude and job motivation (r = .828, p < .001). This finding implies that students who display favorable work attitudes are more likely to experience higher levels of job motivation during OJT. The study concludes that cultivating positive work attitudes is integral to sustaining student motivation in professional training environments. Educational institutions should strengthen internship preparation programs by integrating professional ethics, workplace behavior, mentorship, and motivational development initiatives to enhance students’ employability and career readiness in the tourism industry.
