Abstract
This phenomenological study aimed to explore the experiences of six (6) Junior High School students from Johnny Ang National High School who passed the Philippine Educational Placement Test. A semi-structured interview guide was utilized in gathering the data. The findings revealed that seeking help from others, using the internet to understand lessons, and copying notes from discussions emerged as the major themes from the shared experiences of the PEPT passers. The participants also realized the importance of asking assistance from others, emphasizing that students like them should not be hindered by shyness. Furthermore, they inferred that the use of the internet and copying all the lessons discussed in class greatly helped them in understanding new topics. The study recommends that the Department of Education ensure the timely release of PEPT results so that successful examinees may be transferred earlier to their appropriate grade levels. Moreover, it is recommended that schools and teachers implement programs that address the needs of these students in order to assist them in successfully adjusting, particularly in academic aspects.
