Abstract
The main objective of this study was to ascertain the level of influence on the usage of mobile phones by the students in terms of Frequency, Duration, and Purpose; Factors that could guide the students in using mobile phones in terms of Motivation, Self-regulation, and Teacher support on the learning effectiveness of Dalwangan Elementary School. The respondents of the study are the grades four, five, and six who own a mobile phone in Dalwangan Elementary School District I, Division of Malaybalay City, School year 2023-2024, a total of 85 learners, where 24 are Grade 4, 26 are Grade 5, and 35 are Grade 6. There are 48 males and 37 females. This study was quantitative and employed a correlational research design. It aims to describe and determine the level of influence on the usage of mobile phones by learners in terms of Frequency, Duration, and Purpose. Also, the factors that could guide the student in using mobile phones in terms of Motivation, Self-regulation, and Teacher support. Lastly, a significant relationship exists between mobile phone usage and the learning effectiveness of the primary learners. This study uses a complete enumeration or take all method in considering the number of learners who own a mobile phone to be taken as respondents of the study. Based on the 85 respondents that were used in the study, the following summary of findings was presented on the mobile phone usage on the learning effectiveness among primary learners at Dalwangan Elementary School. Grounded on the data gathered, the major findings are the following: The learners' demographic profile revealed that mostly learners aged 12 were found to have the highest frequency among responders, followed by learners aged 11. Furthermore, the survey's participants were mostly men, with grade 6 pupils having the highest representation compared to students in other grade levels. The data shows that learners are influenced very highly by the frequency and purpose of using their mobile phones. The respondents were also in strong agreement on the factors that could guide the student in using mobile phones in terms of self-regulation and teacher support. It concluded that there is no significant relationship between the use of mobile phones and the learning effectiveness among the Primary learners at Dalwangan Elementary School.
