Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the performance of the public school principals of District 9 of the Department of Education, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. Using a quantitative-comparative research design, this study determined the demographic profile, extent of management performance, and the difference between the demographic profile of the teachers and the extent of management role performance. Through a modified instrument adapted from Alzamili et al. (2020), this study found that the majority of the teachers were in their middle age period, females outnumbered the male teachers, mostly married, at the graduate school level, new in the teaching service, and at the first level of the profession. Teachers perceived a great extent of the management performance of public school principals across various functions in administrative, activating, training, research, evaluation, analytical, and innovative within the educational context, with a mean of 4.22. Likewise, the school principals perceived their management performance to a very great extent, with a mean of 4.67. With the use of ANOVA and t-tests, the researcher completed the bivariate process by looking at the relationships between groups of interval variables and revealed that there was no significant difference between the demographic profile of the teachers and the level of agreement with the management performance of public school principals. Nevertheless, a comprehensive plan should be developed to continuously improve the management performance of public school principals towards quality education.
