Abstract

This research assessed the on-the-job training (OJT) performance of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) students from Marinduque State University - College of Industrial Technology based on feedback from industry partners. The study aimed to evaluate student competencies in knowledge and attitude, punctuality and active presence, performance proficiency, and interpersonal skills; identify necessary skills and competencies based on program outcomes; and develop an enhancement program to better align academic training with industry demands. Employing a quantitative, descriptive research design, a structured survey questionnaire was administered to industry supervisors, managers, and human resource personnel. The study found that the overall OJT performance of BSIT students was rated as "Very Good". Strengths included professionalism, accountability, ethical conduct, adapting to emerging technologies, following workplace policies, punctuality, efficient task execution, teamwork, and professional relationships. However, areas needing improvement were identified as problem-solving and critical thinking, communication skills, proactivity, self-sufficiency, adaptability, leadership, and conflict resolution skills. Consequently, the research recommended developing a specialized course or module focused on real-world problem-solving through project-based learning, emphasizing technical documentation and communication, fostering initiative and innovation, and incorporating engagement with industry experts. This aligns with a previous suggestion to integrate an "Industry Challenge and Innovation" course program to address areas like problem-solving, critical thinking, written communication, and innovation, ultimately enhancing the industry readiness of BSIT on-the-job training students.
