Abstract
The field of tour guiding nowadays are highly in demand because tourism industry in the society is now booming. The study was conducted to assess the qualifications of motorcycle drivers in Malaybalay City. It aimed to analyze the extent of qualifications needed by motorcycle drivers in Malaybalay City to perform as tour guides. The study used Quantitative (questionnaire) data to answer the research questions. A total of 30 motorcycle drivers served as sample respondents in a survey questionnaire data resulted were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools e.g. percentages, frequencies distribution and central tendency measurements (mean, median, and mode). The results show that among the 30 motorcycle sample respondents, most of them can convey excellent communication skills, however, they are low in verbal and non-verbal aspect. Relative to customer service-oriented skills, they excel on handling queries, provides prompt service and in rendering professionalism at work, however, they are low on handling complaints and asking for customer feedback. On the aspect of health and safety practices skills, they have maintained and secured the safety of their customers. This study recommends improving the verbal and non-verbal aspect in communication skills. There is also a need to develop in their abilities on handling complaints and asking for customer feedback.
