Abstract
Individuals' unique approaches to love expression can create barriers to understanding and communicating affection for those with different emotional "love languages," as they often have different preferences for conveying and receiving romantic sentiments. Emotional intelligence plays a mediating role in the preference for love language and romantic satisfaction, as it helps individuals understand their partner's emotional needs and adjust how they communicate. The researchers conducted a study in Quezon City to investigate the mediating role of Emotional Intelligence on Love Language Preference and Romantic Satisfaction among Young Adult Couples. A quantitative research design was employed to gather data on 303 young adults in a romantic relationship. The analysis revealed a significant effect of Emotional Intelligence on Love Language and Romantic Satisfaction among young adults in Quezon city. Specifically, individuals with higher Emotional Intelligence were more capable of identifying and adapting to their partner's love language preferences, leading to higher levels of romantic satisfaction. This suggests that emotional intelligence enhances relationship dynamics by fostering greater empathy, communication, and emotional attunement between partners. The study aims to highlight the importance of understanding one's and other's love language preferences and to investigate emotional intelligence's role in fostering satisfying romantic relationships. Moreover, the findings suggest that cultivating emotional intelligence in young adult couples may be an effective intervention to improve romantic satisfaction and reduce relationship misunderstandings.
