Abstract

Collection analysis helps libraries in strengthening their collections, making more efficient use of their material budgets, and planning for the future. The main purpose of this study is to ascertain if its resources are adequate and pertinent to satisfy the demands of its users, particularly at Community College of Gingoog City. The researcher employed a mixed-method approach that included the CHED standard checklist and list checking to examine the library's collection. The researcher confirmed the findings through one-on-one interviews with administrators, teachers, students, and the vice president of finance. In the survey, there were a total of 18 respondents. Findings revealed that the library's collection needs to be more adequate in quantity for the ratio of its constituents which also caused its weakness and to meet the standard requirements of CHED. Moreover, the ways to address these weaknesses of the library collection which revealed are the four (4) emerging themes: increasing library fees, reviewing the library manually, establishing library committees, and conducting collection assessment. It was concluded that the library collection is insufficient to meet the demands of the institution's population. Furthermore, the study found that the library's users prefer electronic resources over print materials, which suggests a need for more investment in digital resources. The study recommends that the library conducts regular collection analyses to ensure that its resources remain relevant and meet the changing needs of its users, and the library should invest more in electronic resources to meet its users' preferences and keep up with current trends in information technology.
