The journal welcomes research relevant to Asian contexts as well as studies from other regions that contribute to broader academic discussions.

All submissions must demonstrate relevance to the journal's scope, appropriate research methods, a clear contribution to knowledge, and compliance with applicable ethical and editorial standards. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

4. Types of Articles Accepted

AJGAS considers the following categories of scholarly contributions:

Original Research Articles. Reports of original empirical investigations using appropriate qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches.

Review Articles. Critical and systematic examinations of existing literature that synthesize relevant findings, identify research gaps, and provide directions for future inquiry.

Theoretical and Conceptual Papers. Scholarly works that develop, examine, or refine theories, conceptual frameworks, and analytical perspectives relevant to the journal's scope.

Interdisciplinary Studies. Research that integrates perspectives or methodologies from different academic fields to address complex issues.

All submissions are subject to editorial screening and, where appropriate, external double-blind peer review.

5. Open Access Policy

AJGAS follows an open-access publishing model intended to make scholarly research available to readers without subscription barriers.

The journal supports the principle that access to scholarly knowledge can facilitate academic collaboration, strengthen professional learning, and extend the potential impact of research across institutions and communities.

Articles published through SciMatic are subject to the platform's applicable access, copyright, and licensing arrangements. The applicable reuse conditions are identified through the relevant article and publication information.

Readers are encouraged to consult the licensing information accompanying each article before reproducing, distributing, adapting, or otherwise reusing published material.

6. Editorial and Double-Blind Peer-Review Policy

AJGAS employs a double-blind peer-review process designed to support fair, objective, and academically rigorous evaluation. Under this system, authors and reviewers do not receive one another's identities through the journal's review process.

Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's scholarly quality, originality, methodological appropriateness, ethical compliance, relevance, and contribution to existing knowledge.

6.1 Submission and Initial Screening

Upon receipt, a manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine whether it meets the journal's basic submission requirements.

The screening process may consider:

  • Relevance to the journal's aims and scope.

  • Compliance with manuscript preparation requirements.

  • Completeness and clarity of the submission.

  • Originality and appropriate acknowledgment of sources.

  • Research methodology and scholarly contribution.

  • Compliance with applicable research ethics and publication policies.

  • Suitability for external peer review.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be returned for correction or declined without external review.

6.2 Editorial Assessment and Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or an appropriately assigned editor.

Suitable submissions are referred to qualified reviewers with relevant subject-area expertise. Reviewer selection takes into account the manuscript's disciplinary focus and any potential conflicts of interest.

The editorial team takes reasonable measures to preserve the anonymity of authors and reviewers during the review process.

6.3 Double-Blind External Review

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on their:

  • Originality and significance.

  • Relevance to the journal's scope.

  • Theoretical or conceptual foundation.

  • Appropriateness of research design and methods.

  • Quality of data analysis and interpretation.

  • Clarity, organization, and scholarly presentation.

  • Accuracy of citations and engagement with relevant literature.

  • Ethical considerations and research integrity.

  • Contribution to academic knowledge or professional practice.

Reviewers provide constructive comments and a recommendation to assist the editorial team in reaching an informed decision.

Authors and reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality throughout the process.

6.4 Editorial Decisions

Following editorial assessment and consideration of the reviewers' recommendations, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:

  • Accept.

  • Minor revisions required.

  • Major revisions required.

  • Reject.

The Editor-in-Chief retains final responsibility for publication decisions in accordance with the journal's editorial procedures.

Decisions are based on scholarly and ethical considerations, not an author's nationality, institutional affiliation, professional position, or ability to pay publication fees.

6.5 Revision and Reassessment

Authors receiving a revision decision are expected to respond to the reviewers' comments carefully and provide a reasoned explanation of the changes made.

Where an author does not adopt a suggested revision, an academic justification should be provided where appropriate.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or reassessed by the responsible editor, depending on the nature of the revisions.

A revision request does not guarantee acceptance.

6.6 Final Acceptance and Publication

Accepted manuscripts proceed to editorial preparation and production, including copyediting, formatting, and proofreading as applicable.

Authors may be asked to review the final proof and correct typographical or production-related errors. Substantive changes after acceptance require editorial approval.

Publication proceeds after the necessary editorial, production, and administrative requirements have been completed.

6.7 Confidentiality and Reviewer Independence

Editors and reviewers must protect the confidentiality of manuscripts under consideration and must not use unpublished information for personal, professional, or competitive advantage.

Reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest and decline assignments when impartiality may reasonably be questioned.

The journal expects all participants in the review process to communicate professionally and evaluate submissions objectively.

7. Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

AJGAS is committed to responsible scholarly publishing and the protection of the integrity of the academic record. Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to uphold principles of honesty, transparency, confidentiality, fairness, and accountability.

7.1 Originality and Plagiarism

Submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work and appropriately acknowledge all sources, ideas, data, and materials obtained from other works.

Plagiarism, unattributed copying, inappropriate reuse of published material, and other forms of misrepresentation are unacceptable.

The journal may undertake originality checks, request clarification, or seek supporting documentation when concerns arise.

7.2 Research Ethics and Informed Consent

Research involving human participants, animals, personal information, or other protected materials must comply with applicable ethical requirements.

Where required, authors must obtain institutional ethics approval, informed consent, permissions, or other relevant authorizations before conducting the research.

Authors must accurately describe applicable ethical procedures in their manuscripts and provide supporting documentation when requested.

7.3 Data Integrity and Research Misconduct

Authors must report their methods, data, analyses, and findings accurately.

Fabrication, falsification, deceptive manipulation of data, and deliberate misrepresentation of research findings are prohibited.

The journal may investigate credible concerns and request explanations or supporting documentation when necessary.

7.4 Authorship and Contributions

Authorship must reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research.

All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission. Individuals who contributed in other ways should be acknowledged appropriately where warranted.

Honorary authorship, ghost authorship, and unauthorized changes to the author list are inconsistent with responsible scholarly practice.

7.5 Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

Editors and reviewers must also disclose competing interests and withdraw from decisions or assignments when their impartiality could reasonably be questioned.

7.6 Funding Disclosure

Authors must acknowledge relevant funding sources and disclose the role of sponsors or funding organizations in the research design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and publication process, where applicable.

If the research received no external funding, authors should state this accurately.

7.7 Duplicate Submission and Redundant Publication

A manuscript submitted to AJGAS must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

Authors must disclose relevant prior publications, preprints where applicable, overlapping manuscripts, or other dissemination that may affect the originality or interpretation of the submission.

Substantial overlap with previously published work must be explained transparently.

7.8 Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical acceptability of their submissions, including material prepared with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Where AI assistance has materially contributed to content generation, analysis, or other substantive aspects of the work, authors should disclose its use in accordance with the journal's instructions and applicable disciplinary standards.

Authors must verify all AI-assisted content, citations, references, and research claims. Fabricated sources, misleading representations, and undisclosed practices that compromise research integrity are unacceptable.

7.9 Editorial Independence and Confidentiality

Editorial decisions must be based on scholarly merit and the journal's stated standards.

Manuscripts, reviewer reports, and confidential editorial communications must not be disclosed to unauthorized parties. Editors and reviewers must not exploit confidential information obtained through the publication process.

7.10 Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions

AJGAS may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retraction notices when significant errors, ethical violations, unreliable findings, or other circumstances threaten the integrity of the scholarly record.

Such matters will be assessed fairly and documented appropriately. Notices should explain the nature of the concern and remain associated with the affected article wherever practicable.

Reviewers provide expert advice; final publication decisions remain the responsibility of the authorized editor.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions comply with the journal's requirements before external review.

12. Article Processing Charges (APC)

The Asian Journal of General and Applied Studies (AJGAS) operates under an open-access publishing model supported by an article processing charge (APC).

The standard APC is USD 30 per accepted article. This fee contributes to the administrative, editorial, and publication-related costs associated with processing and publishing scholarly articles.

APC Payment Policy

  1. Payment after acceptance. The APC is payable only after the manuscript has received formal acceptance for publication. Authors will be provided with the applicable payment instructions by the editorial office.

  2. Non-refundable payments. All APC payments are strictly non-refundable. Once payment has been made, the fee cannot be refunded, regardless of any subsequent change in the author's circumstances, decision to withdraw the article, or request to discontinue publication.

  3. No guarantee of acceptance through payment. Payment of the APC does not influence editorial decisions or guarantee publication. Manuscripts must successfully complete the journal's editorial assessment and peer-review process before acceptance.

  4. Author responsibility. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the APC is paid in accordance with the journal's instructions and within the specified payment period.

  5. Publication processing. Following confirmation of payment and completion of the required publication procedures, the accepted manuscript will proceed toward publication.

By submitting a manuscript to AJGAS and subsequently accepting an offer of publication, authors acknowledge and agree to the journal's APC policy, including the non-refundable nature of the fee.

13. Copyright and Licensing

AJGAS articles published through SciMatic are subject to the platform's applicable copyright and licensing arrangements.

Under SciMatic's stated publishing terms for platform-originated journals, published articles are copyrighted by ZincirX Inc. and made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

Under this licence, users may share the licensed material with appropriate attribution for noncommercial purposes, subject to the licence terms. Distribution of adapted material is not permitted under this licence.

Readers and authors should consult the applicable licence and copyright notice associated with each article for the precise conditions governing use.

Authors must ensure that submitted material does not infringe the rights of other individuals or organizations and must obtain the necessary permissions for third-party content.

14. Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript before publication must submit a formal request to the editorial office, explaining the reason for withdrawal.

The request will be considered in accordance with the journal's procedures and the stage reached in the editorial process. Authors should not submit the same manuscript to another journal while it remains under consideration by AJGAS.

Once an article has been formally published, it is not treated as an ordinary withdrawn submission. Significant errors, ethical concerns, or unreliable findings will be addressed through the appropriate correction, expression-of-concern, or retraction procedures.

15. Publication Corrections and Retractions

AJGAS recognizes the importance of maintaining an accurate and reliable scholarly record.

Where a published article contains an error that affects its accuracy or interpretation, the journal may publish a correction. Where substantial concerns arise regarding the reliability or ethical acceptability of an article, an expression of concern or retraction may be appropriate.

Editorial action will depend on the nature and seriousness of the issue. The journal aims to document significant changes transparently and preserve the relationship between notices and the affected publication.

Authors are encouraged to report significant errors or concerns to the editorial office promptly.
