Abstract
This study aimed to describe the management practices of the school heads in diverse and inclusive settings, as well as the challenges they encountered, and their coping mechanisms. The researcher used a phenomenological research design. The participants were the five (5) school heads from the Alabel 2 District, Division of Sarangani. The data were gathered through an in-depth interview. The three (3) major themes emerged in the management practices of school heads, providing venues for effective communication and collaboration; maintaining fairness and inclusivity, and building positive interpersonal relationships. The challenges encountered in managing a diverse community, three (3) major themes emerged: facing communication barriers, leading a diverse community, and navigating cultural differences. Also, the challenges encountered in managing inclusive schools, two (2) major themes emerged: the existence of bullying incidents and insufficient support in inclusive education. Lastly, the coping mechanisms employed by the school heads, three (3) major themes were identified: maintaining open communication with colleagues and stakeholders, innovating reward system strategies, and leading by modeling. Based on the findings, it is concluded that embracing diversity and inclusivity in education is challenging; yet, it is recommended to embrace diversity and inclusivity.
