Abstract

This study examines the impact of digital literacy on teaching practices and student outcomes in primary education. It explores how teachers' digital competencies influence the quality of education and how digital tools can address classroom challenges, promoting more sustainable and innovative teaching methods. Using a descriptive causal-comparative design with a quantitative approach, the study surveyed all Grade 1 to Grade 6 public elementary school teachers in ten schools from the Sto. Angel District, San Pablo City, during the 2023-2024 school year, ensuring a complete enumeration. The findings suggest that digital literacy plays a critical role in enabling teachers to integrate technology effectively into their classrooms, enhancing student engagement, critical thinking, and personalized learning. However, the study also reveals significant gaps in teachers’ digital skills, indicating a need for targeted professional development programs to strengthen their digital literacy. By addressing these gaps, such programs could help improve overall teaching effectiveness and ensure the continued evolution of education in the digital era. The study underscores the importance of investing in teachers’ digital competencies as a means to enhance educational quality and sustainability.
