Abstract

School safety is essential for effective learning and student well-being. This study examined the profile of teachers, the implementation of school safety policies and practices, the challenges encountered, the relationship between implementation and challenges, and differences in challenges based on respondents' profiles. Using a correlational research design, data were collected through an adapted online questionnaire from 100 teachers in Barili District 1, Barili, Cebu, Philippines, during the School Year 2025–2026. Statistical tools included percentage, weighted mean, Pearson correlation, and t-test. Results showed that school safety policies and practices were generally well implemented, particularly in violence prevention, physical conditions, and safety-related behaviors, while health and hygiene and classroom safety showed lower levels of implementation. Respondents identified emergency communication systems as a key challenge. A significant relationship was found between implementation and challenges, but no significant differences in challenges were observed across respondent profiles. Based on the findings, a School Safety Enhancement Program is proposed.
