Abstract
This study aimed to examine the influence of cellphones on the academic performance of Grade IV pupils of Bulua Central School, Division of Cagayan de Oro City. Specifically, the study sought to answer the following: 1. To what extent do pupils use their cellular phones during classes in terms of frequency of use of cellular phones and attitude toward using cellular phones? 2. What is the academic performance of the respondents when grouped according to the following categories: Outstanding, Very Satisfactory, Satisfactory, Fairly Satisfactory, and Did not meet Expectations. To answer the problems stated in the study, descriptive research was employed. There were one hundred (100) pupils as sample respondents. Further, the pupils who spent time using cellphones for school purposes did better in school than those who claimed to use devices for other purposes. Hence, it is recommended that teachers ensure the use of cellular phones and social networks as a tool to improve the academic performance of students in schools. Also, communicate with parents about their children and the internet used at home.
