“Publish or perish ”: academic productivism and teaching illness   Resumo O artigo investiga o produtivismo acadêmico e o adoecimento docente a partir do problema: que relações se estabelecem entre a intensificação do trabalho e o processo de adoecimento de professores que atuam em cursos de Pós-Graduação de universidades públicas? É um estudo bibliográfico, complementado por uma pesquisa empírica, realizada em duas universidades públicas (UEPA e UFPA). Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, aplicada a 16 (dezesseis) docentes. Percebeu-se que a intensificação do labor tem íntima correspondência com o adoecimento dos professores, resultando em enfermidades físicas e, sobretudo, mentais, balizadas pela racionalidade do Publish or perish. Adoecimento   Abstract The article investigates the academic productivism and the teaching sickness from the problem: what relations are established between the intensification of work and the process of sickness of teachers who work in graduate courses of public universities? It is a bibliographic study, complemented by empirical research, carried out in two public universities (UEPA and UFPA). Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, applied to 16 (sixteen) teachers. It was noticed that the intensification of the work is closely corresponded to the sickness of the teachers, resulting in physical and, above all, mental illnesses, marked by the rationality of Publish or perish.
