Abstract
This paper deals with two works of Israeli artist Yael Bartana,a video, Trembling Time (2001), and a photographic diptych, Freedom Border (2003), exhibited at The Jewish Museum in Berlin as part of the show which brings together 23 photographers, filmmakers and artists who have produced images focused on Israel. My aim is to reflect on these images in dialogue with the idea of a contemporary experience marked by actual risk, as Jean-Louis Comolli pointed out, and the forces at play in the images of Yael Bartana.
