Abstract

This study quantitatively assessed the entrepreneurial intentions among Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates in Region VII, Philippines. Recognizing entrepreneurship's pivotal role in economic development and job creation, and the potential of TVET programs to foster skilled entrepreneurs, this research aimed to understand the prevalence and predictors of entrepreneurial intent within this specific demographic. A descriptive-correlational design was employed, utilizing a structured questionnaire administered to 350 TVET graduates from various institutions across Region VII. The questionnaire measured entrepreneurial intentions, attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, drawing primarily from the Theory of Planned Behavior. Findings revealed a moderate level of entrepreneurial intention among the graduates. Regression analysis indicated that perceived behavioral control and attitude towards entrepreneurship were significant positive predictors of entrepreneurial intention, while subjective norms showed a lesser but still significant influence. These results underscore the importance of integrating practical skills development, self-efficacy enhancement, and a positive entrepreneurial mindset into TVET curricula. The study offers valuable insights for policymakers, TVET providers, and curriculum developers in crafting targeted interventions to cultivate a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem among vocational graduates in the region, thereby contributing to local economic growth and sustainable livelihoods.
