Abstract
This case study represents a collaborative scholarly output developed by the course professor and the master’s students enrolled in EDUCM 200 – Psychological Foundations of Education under the Master of Arts in Education Program of the University of Cagayan Valley (UCV). It examines digital pedagogies and technology integration as a critical dimension of graduate learning, focusing on how psychological foundations inform the effective use of digital tools in higher education.
The collaborative inquiry highlights how Cognitive Load Theory (Sweller, 1988), SelfRegulated Learning (Zimmerman, 2002), and the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework (Meyer, Rose, & Gordon, 2014) provide powerful lenses for integrating technology inclusively. By situating learners in digital environments that respect diverse cognitive strengths, the study demonstrates that technology integration not only enhances accessibility but also activates metacognitive processes—planning, monitoring, and evaluating one’s own learning in relation to digital tools.
Drawing from classroom observations, reflective journals, and peer feedback within the UCV Graduate School, the professor and graduate students documented how digital reporting sessions, online collaboration platforms, and multimedia presentations encouraged learners to engage in selfregulated learning while navigating diverse technological modalities. The findings affirm that digital pedagogies, when grounded in psychological foundations, strengthen schema building, collaborative knowledge construction, and equitable participation—hallmarks of advanced scholarship in UCV’s graduate education program.
- Background & Institutional Context
In graduate education, technology integration is essential for addressing diverse learning needs and preparing students for digital academic environments. Within the UCV Master of Arts in Education Program, the reporting method—enhanced by digital tools such as learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing platforms, and collaborative apps—becomes a powerful vehicle for inclusivity when informed by psychological foundations.
