Abstract

Mathematics performance remains a critical concern in Philippine education, influenced by both technological access and behavioral strategies. This study investigated the role of digital learning resources in relation to mathematics performance, with study habits examined as a mediating factor among first-year students. Employing a cross-sectional mediation design, data were gathered from 330 respondents using validated Likert-scale questionnaires measuring digital learning resources, study habits, and mathematics performance. The instruments comprised a 12-item scale for digital learning resources, a 15-item scale for study habits, and a 28-item scale for mathematics performance. Results indicated that all three constructs were perceived at high levels. Significant associations were observed between digital learning resources and mathematics performance, as well as between study habits and performance. Mediation analysis further demonstrated that study habits partially mediated the relationship between digital learning resources and mathematics performance, underscoring their role as a mechanism through which digital tools relate to learning outcomes. The findings suggest that digital resources contribute most effectively to mathematics performance when complemented by strong study habits, highlighting the importance of fostering effective study practices in higher education.
