Abstract

The Novel Coronavirus disease, also known as COVID-19, is considered one of the most devastating outbreaks that have taken millions of lives and have affected human spheres globally. The impact made by the COVID-19 outbreak on the community and its infliction on humans affects physical, mental, and emotional health, especially to individuals primarily exposed to COVID-19 disease. The study employed consensual qualitative research (CQR) to explore the realms and experiences of selected Filipinos COVID-19 patient survivors. The study involved participants (N = 8) of legal ages, diagnosed with severe and critical types of COVID-19, who underwent intubation or hemoperfusion during hospitalization and were clinically declared clear of COVID-19. The researcher has facilitated the semi-structured phone interview among the participants between November and December of 2020. Within-case and cross-analyses were employed to analyze the participant’s data. Three domains and ten corresponding core ideas emerged from the study. The present research suggests that resilience promotes coping and serves as a protective factor in managing the physical and psychological influence of COVID-19 disease. The study recommends implications and recommendations to mental health professionals and enhancement of psychological programs considering the challenges of the dreadful COVID-19 disease.
