Abstract

The objective of this work is to present the InterGas Plus mobile application, which is able to perform calculations for the interpretation of arterial blood gas through data collected by health professionals. We used the Eclipse Juno integrated development environment (IDE) with ADT plugin and Android Studio with the Java programming language and XML markup, from the standard Google Developer for Android developers. The application framework was built to enable the analysis of acid-base balance cases and provide an accurate diagnosis, similar to that of a human expert, automatically. The application has been translated into English and Spanish, and is available free of charge from the Google Play virtual store, where anyone with an Android operating system worldwide can use it. Based on user evaluations that downloaded the application on Google Play, system improvements have been produced and InterGas Plus is expected to contribute to improving the care provided by healthcare professionals to patients in ICUs.
