Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo y retrospectivo con vistas a identificar la capacidad resolutiva de los servicios de urgencias del Policlínico Docente Lawton durante el año 2005. Se encontró una elevada capacidad resolutiva, pues fue remitido solo el 1,37 % de los casos vistos y el 28,69 % de los observados. La mayoría de los casos se remitieron por: la severidad o gravedad de su afección, no presentar mejoría después de un período de observación y tratamiento, dificultades en el diagnóstico, requerimientos terapéuticos, la necesidad de valoración por otros especialistas, o por necesidad de exámenes solo disponibles en el hospital. Se requieren nuevos estudios para valorar la capacidad resolutiva de los servicios de urgencias en la atención primaria.
An observational descriptive and retrospective study was undertaken aimed at identifying the resolutive capacity of the emergency services at Lawton Teaching Polyclinic during 2005. An elevated resolutive capacity was found since only 1.37 % of the cases seen and 28.69 % of the cases observed were referred. Most of these cases were referred due to the severity of their affection, to the lack of improvement after a period of observation and treatment, to difficulties to make the diagnosis, to therapeutic requirements, to the need of assessment by other specialists, or to the necessity of doing tests that are only available in the hospital. New studies are required to evaluate the resolutive capacity of the emergency services in primary health care.
