The relevance of the problem concerning the intensity of buckwheat production in Ukraine is defined by a number of contradictions, the most important of which, in our opinion, is that there is a substantial gap between the yield potential of buckwheat and its actually reached level. In order to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of buckwheat production the agricultural enterprises should bring the material and labour expenses to the regulatory level. The basis of our research consists in fundamental assumptions of the economic theory, as well as systematic and comprehensive approach to the study of the production process.The results of researches concerning the intensive cultivation of buckwheat in order to increase the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises on the grain market had been given. The normative cost for the intensive production technology of buckwheat was calculated.
