This study was conducted to investigate the perceptions of the faculty members of their present and future productivity in three areas: scholarship, teaching, and non-teaching activities in two colleges of education in Saudi Arabia (King Faisal University in Al-Hasa and King Abdulaziz University in Al-Madinah). Also their definition of productivity and the factors that affect their productivity were investigated. The sample of the study consisted of 103 faculty members from the two colleges mentioned. The Faculty Career Survey which was developed by three American scholars (Schuttenberg, Patterson, and Sutton) was adapted as the study instrument. The main findings of the study were: 1- The vast majority (75%) of respondents included scholarship as a component of their definitions of productivity. 2. The rating of future productivity was higher than present productivity in all three areas. 3. The rating of present productivity for scholarship was the lowest among the three areas. 4. The factors of attendance of academic conferences, participation in the decision making process at college level, availability of publishing services, and presence of research facilities were viewed as not sufficient in the working environment, although these factors were rated high in
