Abstract
Veterinary Physical therapy is a growing
area, being necessary to promote the
rehabilitation of patients. Increasingly,
veterinarians are seeing the need to
incorporate this specialty in treatment to
improve animals’ recovery and quality of
life animals, especially in the orthopedic
area. The aim of this study was to
demonstrate the participation of
physiotherapy in the rehabilitation process
of a dog of poodle breed with fractures of
the pelvis and left femur, which had
undergone surgery but two months later
still showed limited mobility. Physical
therapy modalities, such as therapeutic
ultrasound, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy
and stretching, were used as its treatment
evolved. At the end of the treatment it was
observed that physical therapy allowed the
animal to support the left pelvic limb during
while walking, without manifesting pain or
any other abnormality.
