Abstract
Al-Domlua fortress located in Al-Silw District - Taiz Governorate in the Republic of Yemen is one of the Yemeni forts that have been in use for a long period of time، starting from the ancient era (before Islam)، until the nineteenth century AD، and the ruins of its buildings still retain many details that tell of that long history. It is the fortress that has never been forcibly fallen according to historical accounts. The fort represented an important administrative and military center for the Ma’afer region، as it overlooks the trade route coming from Aden through Lahj and Tur Al Baha، and then Al Juwa to reach the Aljanad. It extends from the bottom of Khader from the east and the north، and it also allows revealing a large amount of the road coming from and to Aden. This study is a documentation of the architectural remains of this fortress due to its location in the areas of war operations in Yemen.
