Abstract

Nightlife - a tourism product to be included in urba n planning.Artificial light and important social and economic changes offered night new uses and new landscapes that had influenced territorial planning and the urban form. Cities are where the space-time night has suffered major transformations, due to its population density and economic and cultural production. The challenges of the night-time period have been approached from different points of view: crime issues, insecurity, alcohol disorderly behaviours, and others associated with leisure and artistic activities at night. These two last perspectives are the ones that are going to be analyzed, in order reinforce the growing relation between night and tourism. The main goal of this paper focuses the study of the nighttime leisure activities relevance and its role in the touristic attraction. Therefore, we intend to evaluate the attractiveness of events and leisure activities that occur at night, as a crucial ingredient to promote cities image and contribute to its development.
